Magnolia Promenade is not a full world, and contains four lots, three of which have pre-built stores, and one empty lot that the player can build their own business on. Get to Work includes a standalone neighborhood, Magnolia Promenade.

It includes elements from The Sims 2: Open for Business and The Sims 3: Ambitions. The pack also features a new neighborhood called Magnolia Promenade where you can go shopping. It includes three new active careers Detective, Doctor and Scientist, as well as the ability to run a retail business. It was released in North America on March 31, 2015, and Europe on April 2, 2015. The Sims 4: Get to Work is the first expansion pack for The Sims 4, announced on February 4, 2015.

The twelfth and most recent expansion pack, High School Years, was released on July 28, 2022.
